Every 30 minutes. Each refresh pulls the live trending list for Portugal, recalculates the tweet volume beside each hashtag and re-orders the ranking. The "last updated" stamp at the top of the page tells you exactly how old the data on screen is.

It is the approximate number of posts published with that term inside the current trending window.
