It is the approximate number of posts published with that term inside the current trending window. X reports volume in bands rather than exact figures, so a value like "45.2K" means roughly forty-five thousand posts. Terms with no reported volume are shown as 10K+, which is X's own floor for entering a trending list.
Why is a hashtag trending in one country but not another?
X computes trends per location. A term trends where it is spiking relative to that location's normal volume, so a cricket hashtag can sit at #1 in India and be absent from the United States list at the same moment. Use the country selector to compare any two markets side by side.
